Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also means he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an better service.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
